It has been almost 2 years since I last posted on the web site. It has been a difficult time. A lot of things have happen that kept me from getting motivated to update the site. It start with having my right knee replaced last spring. This led to major back problems. Last fall I had questions if I would be able to walk again. I had to make a decision about having back surgery or try some less drastic measures. I ended up getting a bunch of cortisone shots in the spine. This has allowed me to resume my life. Hopefully this will get me back in the swing of things. On top of that last winter some how I lost my list of contact addresses for the website. When I got back to Estes Park this May I worked getting them back. Now we are in travel mode and hopefully I will have news and photos to share. We finally got out of Estes Park last week. If you have not seen the news about the flooding in Estes Park and the front range of Colorado let me tell you that a lot of damage has been done. The two major roads into Estes Park are gone and it looks like it will take at least a year to get permanent ones rebuilt. There are two ways to get in and out now. One is up over trail ridge threw RMNP. This will be open until the snow closes it. The other way is the Peak to Peak highway. Both of these are multiple hours longer that the old 36 or 34. We took the Peak to Peak out and went down to I 70. Then over the divide and down to Leadville where we have been for the last week. We have gone over Independence Pass and into Aspen. Gone to several ghost towns and driven some of the back roads in the area. I have been looking for aspen that have turned. So far there is some color but the majority of the trees are still green. We have had one nice snowfall that has covered the hilltops and we are to get another snowfall tonight. The temps have been a little cooler than I expected but that is because the town which is in the valley sits 2 miles above sea level. At least that's there claim. It actually only 10185 feet above sea level. Tomorrow Saturday we are going to move on to Gunnison and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP, Hopefully in another week I will have more images to share.
